Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar storage used on the Findcab Ltd ("FindCab") website, what each one does and how to control them. It follows the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

1. What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Websites can also keep small items in your browser using "local storage" and "session storage". Session storage is cleared when you close the tab. Local storage stays until it is cleared.

When you first visit, a cookie bar asks you to choose. "Accept all" and "Reject non-essential" have equal weight, and "Customise" lets you choose by category. Until you choose, we set only the essential cookie that remembers your choice and nothing else runs. You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. Your choice is kept for 6 months, then we ask again.

2. Essential (always on)

These are needed for the website to work, so they do not need your consent. They are never used for advertising or statistics.

• fc_consent (our cookie): remembers your cookie choice. Expires after 6 months.
• lang (our cookie): remembers the language you picked. Only set if you choose a language. Expires after 12 months.
• findcab_booking_v1 (session storage): remembers your progress through the booking form. Cleared when you close the tab or finish your booking.
• fc_loaded (session storage): shows the loading animation once per visit. Cleared when you close the tab.
• findcab_account_token (local storage): keeps you signed in to your customer or business account. Removed when you sign out.
• __stripe_mid (1 year) and __stripe_sid (30 minutes), set by Stripe at the payment step to prevent fraud. See Stripe's cookie policy.

Our drivers' app and staff admin panel also use local storage to keep staff signed in and to remember screen settings (fc_driver_token, fc_driver, fc_driver_jobs, fc_driver_tab and findcab_admin_token). These are only used by our staff.

3. Statistics (only with your consent)

If you allow Statistics, we count visits to see which pages are useful and where visitors come from. We never store your IP address. For each page view we record the page, the website you came from, any campaign tags in the link, your device type and screen size, and your approximate location (country, region and city, rounded to about 1 km) as given by our network provider. To count unique visitors we keep a short code made from your IP address and browser with a secret that changes every day, so it cannot be linked from one day to the next. We keep these statistics for 13 months.

• fc_vid (our cookie): a random code that lets us count returning visitors. Expires after 13 months. Removed if you withdraw consent.
• _ga and _ga_[ID] (Google Analytics, only if we have switched it on): tell visitors apart and keep the state of a visit. Expire after 2 years.
• Google Tag Manager (only if we have switched it on): loads our tags. It may set further cookies, which are listed here if we use them.

If you withdraw consent, we stop counting you and delete these cookies from your browser straight away.

4. Marketing (only with your consent, off by default)

We do not currently use marketing cookies. If we ever run Google Ads and want to measure it, a "Marketing" choice appears in the cookie settings and nothing loads until you turn it on. Google Ads would then set _gcl_au and _gcl_aw (up to 90 days).

5. Other services you use on our site

• Google Maps (address search and route on the booking form): Google may set its own cookies when the map or address search loads. See Google's cookie policy.

6. More information
